Catechism

Catechism is a thorough study of the foundational teachings of Scripture. We use the Bible as our textbook and Luther’s Small Catechism as the guidebook. The first goal of this Catechism study is that a student would grow in faith.

Such growth is the Holy Spirit’s work through his Word.

The other goals of Catechism study include:

  • A basic understanding of Bible history;

  • Learning about the differences & applications of Law and Gospel;

  • Provide opportunities for parents & children to discuss their faith together;

  • Discuss current events & questions in the light of Scripture, which is always applicable and trustworthy.

The entire Catechism course can be spaced out over four years – two years of Bible history and two years of direct doctrinal instruction using the Catechism. One year of doctrine is carried out through a home study course between parent & child, using the PowerPoint files and parental scripts provided below.
